Eleonora Karpukhova, Pianist
Eleonora Karpukhova, Associate Professor at the Moscow Conservatory will perform a radiant Solo Piano recital. Winner of numerous international competitions Eleanora was born in Kazan and began her musical studies at age 5. She performs widely in Russia and regularly around Europe, in South America, and since 2014 in the United States.
Featuring works by Bach, Rachmaninov, Ravel and others.

Russian pianist, winner of numerous international piano competitions and Associate Professor at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory — was born in Kazan (Russia) and began her musical studies at the age of 5.
In 2000, Eleonora graduated from the Moscow Conservatory under Prof. V. V. Kastelsky with honors degree. She completed her music education in 2003 as a probation assistant under Prof. M. S. Voskresensky.
While a student, she won numerous international competitions. Eleonora convincingly confirmed her complete professionalism in 2002 by winning the 18th Varallo Sessia International Competition in Italy and the 29th Dr. Luis Sigall International Piano Competition in Chile. "The final round of the music competition in Viña del Mar was a phenomenal event", wrote the Domingo newspaper. "An exceptional performance of Mozart's concerto No. 20 in D minor by Eleonora Karpukhova got the audience into blissfulness and tranquility." Further performances also brought her winning titles. In 2004, Eleonora won the Zlatko Grgosevich Competition in Zagreb, Croatia (Second Prize) and the Jose Vianna da Motta Piano Competition in Lisbon, Portugal.
Eleonora Karpukhova successfully combined her recitals in Russia and abroad. She regularly performs in Russia, Ukraine, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Austria, Chile, Brazil and Portugal. Her concerts in the Small and Rachmaninov Halls and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Salle Cortot in Paris, Saal Gasteig in Munich, Teatro "Gil Vicente" in Coimbra, Fundacao Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon and philharmonic halls of Kiev, Kazan, Donetsk, Kharkov and other cities have always been very successful. In the United States, she has performed at Benaroya Hall for the Russian Chamber Music Foundation of Seattle.
Moscow pianists have long esteemed Eleonora for a harmonic combination of strong will, warm emotions, inspiration and naturalness of her performing style.
Eleonora has vast experience of performing with an orchestra. She played numerous concerts with Orquestra Sinfonica de Chili, Orquestra Fundacao Gulbenkian,Polish Baltic Philharmonic orchestra, Orquestra Metropolitana, Orquestra de Algarve, Orquestra Sinfonica de Providencia ( Chile ). Eleonora Karpukhova actively cooperates with such famous conductors as S. Soldatov, Y. Yanko, A. Cassuto, D. del Pino Klinge, F. Lentini, D. Nazareth and M. Zilm, D.Kolobov, A. Dumay.
In 2013, Eleonora initiated and organized in Moscow the Rachmaninov Fest music festival to mark the 140th anniversary of the composer's birth. Eleonora has recorded two CDs of Rachmaninov's music, for both solo and two pianos. Also solo CD album featuring complete Rachmaninov's Etudes-Tableaux released in 2014 by Classical Records. In 2017 the new recording of pianist from live concert with Tchaikovsky’s piano masterpieces was released in Moscow. In 2024 she completed a three-year eight-concert series in the Conservatory playing everything Rachmaninov wrote for solo piano, in honor of the 150th anniversary of his birth.

October 9 | Members of the Seattle Symphony, Classical Piano Quintet with French Horn
After performing our first live concert in 19 months, Seattle Symphony musicians return to the series with a concert of piano trios and quartets, including the beautiful French horn trio by Johannes Brahms.
September 11 | Frank Huang, Solo Classical Piano
The Community Piano Association's Yamaha grand will be heard in all it’s glory under the hands of Frank Huang, piano soloist. A Seattle native, Mr. Huang has gained international recognition for his artistry and technical command.

April 3 | Bill Anschell, Jazz Trio
One of Bainbridge’s jazz favorites, Bill Anschell returns to the series with a dynamite trio. Bill will be joined by D’Vonne Lewis on drums and Jeff Johnson on bass.
March 6 | Elizabeth Phelps & Friends, Classical Quartet
Elizabeth Phelps - violin, leads an ensemble of rising stars in the Seattle chamber music world. They will be performing a wonderfully diverse program, including Brahms' soulful clarinet quintet, as well as works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, and by Northwest native Angelique Poteat, whose commissions have included a composition for the Seattle Symphony.
February 6 | Greta Matassa, Jazz Vocalist & Quintet
Legendary jazz vocalist and Bainbridge Islander, Greta Matassa returns to our series with her fabulous jazz quintet. Ms Matassa's performance in March of 2020 was our last concert before live music went quiet, and we are so pleased to have her ensemble performing for us once again.

Our 17th season opens with Debussy's exquisite G Major Piano Trio, as well as Beethoven's 'Archduke' Trio. Our distinguished musicians will be Elisa Barston - violin, Pansy Chang - cello, and Paige Roberts Molloy - piano.
Francesco Crosara Jazz Trio [SOLD OUT]
Jazz pianist & composer Francesco Crosara returns to the First Sunday Concert series on November 7th with a dynamic new trio.
Originally from Milan, Italy, Crosara’s music melds an impressive mix of jazz improvisation, a romantic vein from his classical training, along with Latin influences. Crosara who has performed with jazz greats such as Lionel Hampton, Roy Hargrove, and Ira Sullivan, is now based in the Northwest, and has collaborated with local stalwarts like Clipper Anderson, DVonne Lewis, Jeff Busch, Osama Afifi, and many others.
For his upcoming performance at the First Sunday Concerts series, Crosara’s ensemble will include two exceptional musicians: bassist Farko Dosumov, and drummer Mark Ivester. The trio will present a blend of original compositions by Crosara and jazz standards revisited. Expect both lyrical and exuberant music.

Saxophonist, composer, and recording artist, Mark Lewis, has performed and recorded throughout Europe and the US, receiving glowing accolades from inside the world of jazz : «You listen to the guys on the very top labels, and they’re not in Mark’s league. » -Ted Gioia, author of ‘The History of Jazz.’ Joining Mark will be Seattle Jazz Hall of Famer Bill Anschell, Clipper Anderson, and Mark Ivester.
